Magical Secrets of Balestier

Fancy learning about the history and heritage of Balestier, be entertained by magic tricks and get a good workout, all at the same time? Join CityJo Carson as he went on a magical walking tour of Balestier with his children.

“Magical Secrets of Balestier” was a walking tour guided by full-time magician Mr Wee Kien Meng, also known as Mr Bottle. The 2.5 hours tour was livened up by Mr Bottle’s magic tricks, as well as interactive stuff like games, puzzles and riddles. Participants were grouped into groups and competed for points as they attempted the activities. It was a great time of bonding for all participants. 

Although CityJo Carson was feeling under the weather, he persevered in the pursuit of a good time with his children. Carson, himself a magician, found that everytime Mr Bottle performed a magic trick, his children would ask him if he could repeat the feat. 

Carson was also surprised by some of the secrets of Balestier. He also voluntarily underwent an eye test – but one that harked back to a day before alphabets were used.
